Dec. 11, 2017: The Month of December is a joyous and loving month for all of us. It’s the month to celebrate the birth of the Saviour of the World. But for the parishioners of Urwa, there adds another reason to this month and that is the joyful celebration of the feast of Pompei Shrine.
This year’s celebration began on the 10th of December with the Eucharistic Banquet presided over by Our Lordship Most Rev. Dr Aloysius P D’Souza and concelebrated by the parish clergy and guests priests. The feast was celebrated under the Biblical quotation taken from Hebrews 10:25 which speak about the importance of coming together in the name of Jesus. This theme was chosen in line with the year of Small Christian Community in our diocese. Rev. Fr Joachim Fernandes, Parish Priest and visiting professor at St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, beautifully articulated the theme of the celebration.
Soon after the Holy Eucharist, adoration to the Blessed Sacrament was conducted. The Blessed Sacrament was taken in procession in a prayerful atmosphere. Devotees gathered in large numbers to pay due reverence to the Sacrament.
Rev. Fr Stany Pereira, parish priest thanked the parishioners and devotees for their wholehearted support throughout the celebration.
