Aug 15, 2018: The feast of Assumption of Mother Mary and 72nd Independence Day of India celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa. The main celebrant of the festal Mass and the chief guest of the day was Rev Fr Antony Shera, the Secretary of Catholic Board of Education, Mangalore diocese. In his message he asked everyone to take personal responsibility towards the development of our society. Mr. Padmanaba, corporator of the area was honorary guest of the day, gave his wishes to all. Rev Fr Stany Pereira the parish priest and the correspondent, called all to be the responsible citizens of the country. The assistant parish priests, the head teachers of the schools and the parish council vice president and secretary were on the dais. The teachers sang the patriotic song and Ms. Neha Rodrigues, the student of St Aloysius high school gave a speech on the independence day. Mrs. Icy was the emcee of the day. At the sweets were distributed to all who were present for the program.
